The Morning Break with Dorian Brown 04-02-22: Motivation with Cameron Parker
Friday Feb 04, 2022
Friday Feb 04, 2022
Motivation is the word of the show as Dorian is joined by fellow Bristolian Cameron Parker, a schools motivational speaker who works predominantly with pupil premium students across the UK. Cameron brings raw passion and enthusiasm to the topic and his deep knowledge and experience in working with schools to support students shines through.
Cameron shares how his early life experiences shaped who he is today and how that drives him to want to support as many students that he can in realising their potential. A wonderfully reflective discussion ensues where Cameron unashamedly admits that he is still figuring this all out (as we all are!) but that his experiences and the feedback he gets allows him to continually improve - moving from one rousing motivational assembly, to carefully planned and tailored engagements with schools.
We unpick the idea that motivation is something we all wrestle with but of course, harnessing its power can bring obvious benefits. We tap into some theory, looking at Kirschner and Hendrick’s findings of the relationship between motivation and success as well as asking a number of additional questions about the topic that would be great starting points when discussing motivation with your departments/schools.
