Dorian is joined by the fantastic Bruce Robertson, author of The Teaching Delusion trilogy and we discuss how one can cultivate the conditions for high quality leadership and teaching and engender a culture of kaizen amongst the staff and student bodies.
Focusing on the ‘right things’ Bruce articulates concisely how PACE (Pedagogy, Attainment, Curriculum and Ethos) are the key areas to fertilise which have the capacity to bring up standards across the board. We talk about how teachers can hone in on specific elements of their teaching practice and work to ‘sharpen their saws’ through the use of ‘power up prompts’ and ‘trusted techniques’, all explored in depth in The Teaching Delusion 3.
I am always captivated when listening to Bruce, he has a real knack of explaining things simply, effectively and purposefully - I have no doubt that this is due to his knowledge, experience and expertise he has developed over time and I challenge you to listen to this and not feel energised and invigorated about powering up your leadership and/or teaching at your school!
